WELCOME TO THE RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK AREA
Our symposium speakers will include renowned small and large animal
clinicians, pulmonary physicians, and respiratory researchers. Speakers
arise from the U.S., the U.K., France, and the Research Triangle Park
area with its surrounding universities North Carolina State University,
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and
Wake Forest University.
The Research Triangle Park was founded in 1959 by government,
university, and business leaders as a model for research, innovation,
and economic development. By establishing a place where educators,
researchers, and businesses come together as collaborative partners,
their goal was to increase opportunities for the citizens of North
Carolina.
The Research Triangle Park is currently home to a broad spectrum of
companies. Companies in the Park are clustered in several industry
sectors, including communications technology, pharmaceutical and
biotechnology sciences, as well as life and environmental sciences. A
number of US federal agencies are located in the Park including the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency and the National Institute of
Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).
